Salon Rouge opened its doors in the spring of 1997 under it's original name, Atria Salon. The Salon became well known in the community for its distinctive hair cuts and vibrant coloring techniques. In 2005 Atria Salon officially changed its name to Salon Rouge. According to owner, Gail Getz, "With the new year upon us we were ready for some subtle changes but our creative staff remains the same".
Gail came to South Bend from Los Angeles, where she spent 22 years in the hair industry. She gained her experience from prestigious salons there, such as Vidal Sassoon and and Jose Eber. She has spent time working in other areas such as London, New York, and San Francisco. Bringing with her philosophies of training her own staff, and building a team of stylists who have an inspiration that they have created within each other.
Salon Rouge is unique in that it derives much of its philosophy from other areas of the country. With the world class cutting and coloring techniques that Gail has brought to her stylists, Salon Rouge has received a reputation for its excellence in both cutting and coloring. Salon Rouge was also chosen to be part of the nationwide television show “A Makeover Story”, and continues to be an active part in the community. As her creative staff expanded, so too did the need for more working space. With great anticipation Salon Rouge opened its second location in the Spring of 2009, located close to the Notre Dame Campus in the Martin's Plaza at State Road 23 and Ironwood, (Formerly known as Atria 2 Salon)
Salon Rouge also has a very talented team of stylists. They instruct their classes every week to their apprentices on different cutting and coloring techniques. The stylists are a vital part to their educational program. Salon Rouge's in-house training program is very important to the salon, in that Salon Rouge's work continues to be of the highest quality.
All of Salon Rouge's stylists are continuously furthering their education by attending classes across the country. They have studied the latest techniques from Vidal Sassoon, Toni & Guy, American Crew, Goldwell and Alfaparf.
